Despite wet conditions, officials warn Colorado’s “moderate” wildfire season could quickly change

Ahead of a spring storm expected to dump several inches of moisture along the Front Range, the forecast for Colorado’s wildfire season appears “moderate,” though that could quickly change, officials warned Tuesday. The above-average snowpack and spring moisture won’t erase the risk of wildfire come summer, officials said during a presentation Tuesday on this year’s wildfire outlook.

Noise heard during police activity simply training drills, resident says police gave no warning of training exercise

The loud noises and law enforcement presence seen near Trinidad High School Saturday, April 22, was a training exercise, Trinidad Police Department said in a statement Monday. Residents in the THS vicinity reported hearing gunshots and loud booms Saturday, after TPD initiated the training with reportedly no public warning.

Colorado high court expands legal representation options

The Colorado Supreme Court approved a rule that expands options for legal representation in certain domestic-related matters. Under the approval of Rule 207 of the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure, licensed legal paraprofessionals are now allowed to conduct certain tasks, including completing and filing standard pleadings and represent clients during mediation and accompany clients to court to answer a court’s factual questions — although they cannot present oral arguments or examine witnesses during hearings, according to a release from the Colorado Administrative Office of the Courts.
