During the late fall of 2024, The Chronicle-News reported the apprehension of Patrick Sebring on Oct. 28 after authorities arrested the man for a stabbing that happened at Cimino Park, charging him with criminal attempt of first-degree murder, a class two felony.
According to the Las Animas County Courts, a sentence hearing is set for Jun. 25 for Emanuel Valdez, 38, following a shooting incident that occurred back in October 2025, which left one person hospitalized.
On June 3, the Colorado State Patrol reported that on the previous evening, June 2, they responded to a crash on I-25, following a Walsenburg Police Department pursuit that ended in a head-on collision, leaving seven people, including one officer, hospitalized.

On the afternoon of May 26, after receiving several reports from witnesses who claimed they spotted an unhoused person abusing a puppy, Trinidad Police officers responded and eventually apprehended the suspect.
The Clerk and Recorder’s Office announced last week, May 20, during the Las Animas County Board of County Commissioner’s meeting, that they plan to hold a public mock election on the second week of June and order a “large” quantity of ballot drop boxes and voting equipment, which could signal a ramp-up in preparations before the upcoming 2025 election cycle.
A new ballot initiative for wildlife conservation and a potential appointment to the State Land Board were the central points of confirmation of what one Las Animas County commissioner called an “all-out assault” on agriculture during the board’s regular meeting back on May 20 at the county courthouse.
