Colorado energy commission schedules public outreach in Trinidad

The Colorado Oil & Gas Commission will be in Trinidad this month hosting a public meeting to update residents on the implementation of a 2019 law that tightened restrictions on oil and gas production. The presentation will focus on the implementation of SB 19181, dubbed the “Protect Public Welfare Oil & Gas Operations Act, which “prioritizes the protection of public safety, health, welfare and the environment in the regulation of the oil and gas industry.” The bill, a Democrat-led initiative approved by Gov.

State leases top of FPSP to expand public access to growing state park

Colorado wildlife officials continue to develop Fishers Peak State Park, and recently confirmed a lease-agreement that will allow public access to the top of Fishers Peak. Colorado Parks and Wildlife and representatives of Gray Creek Ranch, a private southern Las Animas County ranch, entered into a 25-year lease agreement that allows the public to access the peak of the mountain through the ranch.
