The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies recently warned state lawmakers that it is unprepared for its assigned job of implementing the state’s new, second-in-the-nation legal “magic mushroom” industry, which voters approved in November. The department — which normally oversees sectors like insurance and banking — is tasked with quickly adopting a regulatory structure under which psychedelic mushrooms can be legally consumed by people 21 and older at licensed facilities.

Colorado’s free preschool application is open — here’s what you need to know

The parent application for Colorado’s new free preschool program is now open — a major milestone in the march toward the program’s launch next summer. The program, funded in part by a voter-approved nicotine tax, will offer 10 to 15 hours a week of tuitionfree preschool to 4-year-olds statewide, with some eligible for 30 hours a week.

Organizer says 20-year festival series will not occur this year, future festivals on hold

The widely beloved Trinidaddio Series, hosting late-summer productions including the Trinidaddio Blues Fest and Trinidaddio Americana Fest, will not host either event this year, and may not moving forward, according to the festival series’ organizer. Jerry Campbell, a longtime organizer of the festival series, wrote in a public letter late last month that due to a lack of funding, the 20-year festival will not occur this August.
