Colfax increases ‘senior level’ salaries after raising starting salaries to be more competitive

A dozen “senior level” staff members for the Colfax County governmentsawapaybumpahead of the Christmas holiday, after the county raised entry level salaries in a bid to be more competitive in the job marketplace, but one county commissioner said, in his mind, the county needs to continue addressing its pay levels. The Colfax County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved salary increases for12employees,whohaveworked for the county for 12 years or more, during its last meeting of 2022 — with increases ranging, on average, from $2,500 per year to $10,000 per year, Monte Gore, Colfax County manager, told The Chronicle-News.

Kit Carson Park child abuser gets probation for 2021 assault

A Trinidad sex offender who assaulted a child behind a tree in a local park about a year and a half ago, has been sentenced to five years of probation. Art museum plans to restore outside, improve inside with state funding

Walsenburg is set to see a historical facelift to its downtown corridor with the rehabilitation and restoration of a contemporary art museum. Museum of Friends, a contemporary art museum housed in the historic Roof and Dick Building, plans to restore its façade to its original early-20th century look — in addition to completing upgrades to the interior.
