Colorado could get a new office of school safety to coordinate grant funding, training for tragedies

Jared Polis’ administration is proposing that Colorado create a new state office to address school safety after a 2019 audit called the current system of addressing threats and responding to tragedies a “patchwork” and “uncoordinated.” The Office of School Safety, if approved by state lawmakers in the 2023 legislative session that begins Jan.

Home values in Colorado soared during the pandemic

The housing market has been red hot during the pandemic, with home prices hitting record highs up until a few months ago. More recently, surging mortgage rates have put some pressure on the housing market, slowing the climb in housing prices. Las Animas County receives $1.68M for county courthouse, road improvements

Las Animas County received over $1 million in state funding to support county courthouse improvements and maintenance work for segments of two county roads, county administration announced this week. The county received $930,000 through the Colorado Judicial Department’s underfunded courthouse grant program, and an additional $750,000 through the Colorado Department of Local Affairs Energy/Mineral Impact Assistance Fund grant.
