Former and current staff members of Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association have alleged a laundry list of claims against the nonprofit, including a toxic work environment including inappropriate comments, poor internal communication, a lack of board oversight and that the nonprofit is not meeting its stated mission statement. The claims were raised after nine staff members left between the shelter and the Noah’s Ark Thrift Store, but former and current staffers told The Chronicle-News that they brought their concerns to the board before resigning to no avail.

Crime report for Dec. 1 — Dec. 7: Incidents include welfare checks, assault, accidents, hit and runs

The Trinidad Police Department responded to or initiated some 215 incidents between Thursday, Dec. 1, and Wednesday, Dec. 7, including welfare checks, accidents, hit and runs and warrant arrests. The Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office saw some 112 calls during the same time period, including trespassing, an unattended death, accidents and fights.

Primero School District RE-2’s ninth grade Earth Science class learned about the area’s tragic mining history during a field trip to the Southern Colorado Coal Mining Memorial and Museum in Trinidad last month, providing the students a chance to learn about mining and the Ludlow Massacre conducted by the Colorado Fuel & Iron militia.
