Friday’s wind reached over 71 mph in Las Animas County, exceeded 100 mph up north

Colorado’s Friday windstorm blew in poor travel conditions, dust storms, power outages and downed trees —with a peak wind speed reported in Las Animas County at 71 mph. National Weather Service Pueblo did not report any major impacts to the county, but said it brought a dust storm to Baca County and damaged roofs in El Paso County.

San Isabel Electric Association: $5 residential access charge increase coming in 2023

San Isabel Electric’s Board of Directors approved a change in the cooperative’s rates that will increase the monthly grid access charge as follows: • $5 increase for residential and small commercial rates • $20 increase for large commercial rates • $80 increase for industrial rates There is no change to the grid access charge for accounts with an electric storage time-of-use rate or to accounts on the pump rate. There is no change to the energy usage charge for any rate class (the kilowatt hour – kWh rate).

TSD1 stops consolidation discussions

After heated debates at school board meetings over the past few years, the Trinidad School District No. 1 Board of Education said it plans to put consolidation discussions on the backburner and focus its attention on launching a new strategic visioning process to “look towards 2030.” The board made the announcement in a letter to TSD1 staff after holding a work session Monday, Nov.

TPD nabs two during traffic stop, finds nearly 12 ounces of narcotics

Trinidad police arrested two suspects on suspicion of drug distribution during a traffic stop and confiscated nearly 12 ounces of methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin and cocaine. TPD arrested Nadia Borrego (age 22) and Michael Jessie Schwartz (age 46) after conducting a traffic stop for an unrelated traffic infraction in the 500 block of E.
