Accused LA County embezzler trial set for April 2023 Proceedings have seen multiple continuances issued

A woman accused of embezzling nearly $40,000 from the Las Animas County government failed to come to a plea agreement with prosecutors and is scheduled to stand trial early next year. Consuelo “Connie” Victoria Vigil (age 40) will stand for a five-day jury trial, starting April 18, 2023.

Mayor Rico sanctioned for phone call to police chief

Trinidad’s Board of Ethics sanctioned Trinidad Mayor Phil Rico after he admitted to allegations filed against him by a Trinidad city councilmember. The sanctions come after Trinidad city councilmember Aaron Williamson filed an ethics violation allegation against the mayor, alleging that he called Trinidad Police Department Chief Charles Glorioso to send code enforcement to a resident’s home — in violation of Trinidad City Charter.
