Aguilar School District RE-6 celebrated Homecoming the week of Oct. 20. Royalty was announced during the La Veta volleyball games, and a dance was held on Saturday, Oct. 26. Former Aguilar High School Homecoming Queen and Miss Colorado, Dawna Jo Avila, returned to crown the new king and queen.

A Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame inductee and a nonprofit working to bring family skiing back to the Cuchara region are partnering to make the dream a reality, along with working to offer outdoor youth initiatives for regional students. Chris Anthony, a professional skier and filmmaker, and Panadero Ski Cooperation, a nonprofit working to reopen Cuchara Mountain Park, are teaming up to bring convenient ski access and youth outdoor initiatives to southern Colorado.
