Longtime TSD1 employees Ruscetti, Vasques retire, recognized for dedicated service by school board

Trinidad schools will see two less faces in the hallways with the retirement of two longtime employees. Kim Ruscetti, who served as an administrative assistant, and Fred Vasquez, who served as a custodian, were both recognized for their service by the Trinidad School District No.

Structure fire near Hoehne on Hwy 160 sparks multi-agency, countywide response

Fire personnel across Las Animas County responded to a structure fire in the eastern portion of the county last week, officials reported. Hoehne Fire Protection District, Trinidad Fire Department, Pinion Canyon Fire Department, Fishers Peak Fire Department, Spanish Peak-Bon Carbo Fire Department, Trinidad Ambulance District, Las Animas County Road & Bridge Department and the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Department all responded to an airplane hangar on fire, according to police and fire officials.

Heinrich announces expanded eligibility for VA health care for Vietnam, Gulf War, post-9/11 veterans under PACT Act

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (DN. M.) is notifying New Mexico veterans that on October 1, the Department of Veterans Affairs will expand and extend eligibility for VA health care for certain Veterans of the Vietnam War, Gulf Wars and post-9/11 era under the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act.

EPA, Colorado Dept. of Public Health seek community input on Workplan to advance environmental justice goals

DENVER — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment are seeking public feedback on a Workplan to implement a memorandum of understanding signed on March 8, 2022, which advances environmental justice through enforcement and compliance assurance.
