DENVER — Colorado Parks and Wildlife is partnering with the Colorado Youth Corps Association (CYCA) to hire 41 weeks of service corps this summer to repair off-highway vehicle (OHV) trails impacted by increased visitation and wildfire damage.

This Friday, June 3rd from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. is the season’s kickoff for the First Friday Art Walk adventures in downtown Trinidad. Local galleries, restaurants and other businesses will be open late. Live music will help provide the evening’s festive atmosphere. Tara Carr, with Paul Robison and Randy Welch, will be playing at Gallery Row, at 149 E. Main. SteelVocalKaren, composed of Karen Finch and Rob Gonzalez will be playing at 112 N. Commercial.
Joe Ross, a brand new graduate from Trinidad High School and multi-sport athlete, said he sees his success at the 2022 Colorado High School Athletic Association Class 2A State Track & Field Championships as a big step for himself after overcoming numerous obstacles this season.

Saturday, May 29 was a beautiful day for the annual placing of the flags on the graves of local veterans that began the Memorial Day weekend. Some 200 local volunteers came out to honor the many veterans who are buried in the Catholic and Masonic Cemeteries in Trinidad. Memorial Day was filled with special services that celebrated the Las Animas County veterans who served their country — some paying the ultimate price for our freedom. PUEBLO — After an all-night search, Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Marine Evidence Recovery Team (MERT) recovered a body in 107 feet of water early Tuesday along the north shore of Lake Pueblo State Park.
