TSD1 sells land parcel to local college, creating more funding for other K-12 needs
Trinidad School District No. 1 plans to sell Sander’s Field to Trinidad State College, after the TSD1 school board approved a resolution for the sale late last month.

Residents and tourists may have seen a new art fixture in town — well not exactly new, but repaired at least — since it suffered severe damage last spring to the concrete birdbath fountain part of the display, due to aging and winter weather-related issues.

Local, young writers receive recognition during 2022 county creative writing awards ceremony
Close to 30 young and budding creative writers received recognition during the 2022 Las Animas County Writing Competition awards ceremony — with the writers falling into four different categories. The competition, which started in 1997, provides local students an opportunity to share and develop their creativity.
THS students rally Thursday to oppose district board’s recent decision to consolidate district
A student-led protest against the Trinidad School District No. 1 Board of Education’s decision to consolidate the three campus district into one campus brought around 30 to 40 students out to oppose the vote Thursday.
