No injuries were reported due to a house fire in the 1000 block of Boulevard Street in Trinidad Tuesday night, according to a fire official. Trinidad Fire Department Chief Dave Bacharach said that the two occupants of the home evacuated before resources arrived.

The American Indian Academy of Denver is a public charter school for 6th to 10th grade students. Several months ago, a group of teachers from the school visited Roxborough State Park and heard an historical program and wondered why the indigenous people of the region weren’t mentioned.
Trinidad Police Department responded to or initiated some 495 calls between April 14 and April 26 including a house fire, shots fired and a home invasion. The Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office responded to or initiated some 114 calls between April 14 and April 20, including an accident, suspicious incidents, fireworks and sexual misconduct. The Sheriff’s Office call logs for last week were not available before press deadline.

Local police arrested a Trinidad man on suspicion of first-degree burglary and other charges after responding to a home invasion on Sunday, April 24. Trinidad Police Department arrested Craig Steven Gavett (41) on suspicion of first-degree burglary (a class three felony), harassment (a class three misdemeanor) and criminal mischief (a class one petty offense) — after making contact with him inside of a residence in the 600 block of South Indiana Avenue.
