Art car fun highlights museum’s grand reopening weekend

The local art car museum has reopened its doors to the public after closing for a short time and has been met with excitement and support from the Trinidad community. Art Cartopia Museum, located at 2702 Freedom Road in Trinidad, held a grand reopening party Saturday, April 2, filled with food from Three Sisters Frybread, live music by Robbie and the Reckless, old-time tin photography by Tim Brown Photography, fun, fellowship and a wide assortment of art cars to peruse.

Colfax County NM sees one of lowest yearly change to unemployment rate

Colfax County had one of the lowest year-over-year changes to its unemployment rate in the state in February, according to the latest data from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions. Colfax County saw its unemployment rate decrease by 2.6% between February 2021 and February 2022, dropping to 4.5% last month from 7.1% a year earlier.

City seeks to protect business interests by limiting amount of festivals under new proposed ordinance

The Colorado legislature passed a bill last year allowing for certain alcohol licensees to hold festivals for “alcoholic beverage retail activity” and now the City of Trinidad is in the midst of writing local regulations to accommodate the legislation while seeking to protect varying interests.

2nd defendant shuns trial, strikes plea deal for part in 2021 Trinidad bombings case

Leah Armijo, who is accused of playing a role in the 2021 Trinidad bombings, struck a plea deal with the prosecution that would see her receive a four-year deferred judgment. Armijo (30) pled guilty to assault in the first-degree — deadly weapon (a class three felony) and assault in the third-degree (a class one misdemeanor) while the prosecution dismissed another firstdegree assault charge and one charge of possession of an explosive or incendiary device.
