CSP urges state’s youngest drivers not to speed

In an effort to reduce speeding in less experienced drivers across the state, Colorado State Patrol’s new “Don’t Chase Cool” campaign will run from March 1, through May 30. With messaging geared specifically for Colorado’s youngest drivers ranging in age from 16-21 and their parents/guardians, this campaign’s point is simple — slow down on the roadways because speeding isn’t cool.

Las Animas County officially declines full economic development district membership for time being

Las Animas County will remain a non-voting member of the Southern Colorado Economic Development District for the time being after a unanimous vote last week by county commissioners. The Las Animas County Board of Commissioners voted 3-0 to decline joining the economic development district this year at its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, March 1, with one commissioner raising the point that services would overlap with services already seen in the county.

Water trees in the winter months during drought conditions to maintain top health

FORT COLLINS — Despite snow falling in many regions of Colorado recently, most of the state is still experiencing drought conditions after an abnormally dry period at the end of last year, according to the National Drought Mitigation Center. Trees in urban and community settings are dormant now, but still require occasional watering during winter to remain in top health.
