Colorado announces mask company will give hundreds of state residents option to receive refunds it promised

Attorney General Phil Weiser announced Thursday, Feb. 10 that a crowdfunded Colorado mask company will offer refunds to Coloradans who supported its crowdfunding campaigns to develop a product that would eliminate 99% of pathogens to protect customers during the COVID-19 pandemic, and then neglected to honor its satisfaction guarantee when customers later requested refunds.

CDHS encourages Coloradans to apply for LEAP — state’s Low-income Energy Assistance Program

DENVER — The Colorado Department of Human Services is celebrating Feb. 1 as National Energy Assistance Day. All poten tially eligible Coloradans are encouraged to apply for Colorado’s Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP), a federally funded program that helps eligible Coloradans pay a portion of their winter home heating costs.

Group seeks to add direct trail from downtown area to face of Fishers Peak

The development of Fishers Peak State Park is expected to create some 70 miles of trails in the newly created state park, but some locals are looking to have another stretch of trail added to the master plan before its finalization — a trail to connect Trinidad to the face of the park, which they say was supported in a 2015 plan created by the City of Trinidad.

Colorado Livestock Association selects new chief executive officer

GREELEY — The Colorado Livestock Association (CLA) announced Zachary Riley as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective March 7, 2022. He will replace long-time leader Bill Hammerich. Riley is well versed in the legislative and regulatory issues related to Colorado animal agriculture. He has also been involved with industry efforts on health care, climate, energy, transportation and labor.

Culebra Range Community Coalition scholarship becomes the new ‘environmental scholarship’ — $4K college scholarship opportunity now available for 11th straight year

The Culebra Range Community Coalition said earlier this month that for the 11th consecutive year it is offering students four-year scholarships to local students attending college to study “any field that can benefit the natural environment.”

Bi-county region sees COVID-19 cases decline, health dept. supports state’s efforts to transition from pandemic healthcare to endemic response

Las Animas-Huerfano Counties District Health Department said that while regional-incidence rates appear to be on the decline, they are still “extremely high” relative to historical averages. Between December 26 and February 2 incidence rates in the bicounty region fluctuated between 126.4 cases per 100,000 on December 26 and 1,469.7 per 100,000 people at its peak on January 18, according to data shared by the bicounty health department.
