Collaboration between Mission of the Way, Church of Christ brings much needed warming center in Trinidad as temperatures reach freezing

After the National Weather Service Pueblo issued a winter weather advisory last week, most prominently on Jan. 9, which included Las Animas County, with temperatures as low as 6 degrees Fahrenheit with winds around 45 mph, Mission of the Way and the Church of Christ collaborated to open a warming shelter to help those needing sanctuary from the freezing temperatures.

Coalition for unhoused introducing new, experienced members to address homelessness population in Trinidad

During the City of Trinidad’s City Council regular meeting, Det. Sgt Lay, who is also a chair for the Trinidad and Huerfano County Coalition for the Unhoused, introduced Chelsea Meece as the new systems coordinator for the organization along with a new co-responder, Alfia Lane for the Trinidad Police Department, to provide insight on better serving the community and unhoused population within the city.

Trinidad drug bust reveals small child surrounded by fentanyl in car, home

Back in mid-December of 2024, The Chronicle-News reported a traffic stop that uncovered a suspect in possession of fentanyl with intent. However, the Trinidad Police Department’s incident report uncovered shocking details, revealing that a six-year-old child was living in an environment surrounded by the dangerous drug, with the arrest of the suspected drug dealer potentially saving his life.
