Opioid settlement funds to be allocated to organizations in southeastern Colorado, LAC county commissioner major part of effort

Last week, September 17, during the Las Animas County Board of County Commissioners regular meeting, commissioner Felix Lopez spoke about the allocation of funds from the ongoing litigation Colorado had against the pharmaceutical companies, which saw hundreds of millions of settlement funds go toward the state to compensate for the harmful effects opioid addiction caused.

Secretary of State awards Help America Vote Act grants to counties

Secretary of State Jena Griswold announced that the first round of County Security and Accessibility Grants has awarded a total of $2,412,838.55 to 42 counties.Counties can use the grants to increase the security and accessibility of voting systems and locations, boost election judges’ pay and provide funding for Sunday voting locations ahead of the 2024 General Election.
