Trinidad passes controversial ordinance amendment, some claim target charity efforts for local unhoused 

Trinidad’s unhoused population was again at the center of debate during the city’s regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 2, which had a public hearing section to expand the definition of a ‘special event’, amending the city ordinance section 1-4 chapter 21.

Alleged trafficker traveling I-25 busted by TPD K-9 officer, who discovers over 24 pounds of cocaine hidden behind ‘access door’ of vehicle  

Adrian Arballo-Conteras, 31, of Chihuahua, Mexico, was arrested Monday, Aug. 18, following a Trinidad Police Department K-9 officer reportedly discovering 9 rectangular packages of suspected cocaine, equaling to around 24 pounds hidden inside Arballo-Conteras’s vehicle.

Trinidad detective’s investigation uncovers Las Vegas couple allegedly used victim’s PCU account to make over $40,000 in fraudulent purchases 

On Aug. 8, Shane Hardesty, 51, was transferred to the Las Animas County Detention Center, following an investigation by a Trinidad Police Department Detective, who uncovered that a couple from Las Vegas had allegedly stolen a person’s Power Credit Union account information in Trinidad, making over $40,000 in fraudulent purchases.
