CPW representative calls illegal LAC elk poaching, ‘senseless,’ ‘disgraceful’

At least four elk were illegally poached in September, on the 13, 26, and 27, respectively, with the carcasses abandoned on different ranches in Las Animas County near Stonewall and Picketwire, according to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife, which opened an investigation and offered an award for information.

Farmers fall to Rye to end impressive run against ranked opponents

Last week the Hoehne Farmers dropped a match to Rye at home. The Thunderbolts were 8-3 and ranked No. 9 in the RPI. The Farmers (5-7, 2-2) have faced and fell five ranked opponents in their last six matches including, Sargent (ranked No. 7 in Class 1A), Swink (ranked No. 5 in Class 2AA), Centauri (ranked No. 8 in Class 3AA) and Alamosa (ranked No. 3 in Class 3AAA). This week the Lady Farmers will take on Simla who is ranked No. 1 in Class 2AA. Also this week, Hoehne will travel to Pueblo West to face Swallows Charter Academy.
