Larry J. Borrego

Larry J. Borrego, 68, slipped away peacefully at his home July 22, 2022. Like many things Larry did, he left this earth on his own terms, after a five year battle with dementia. Larry was born October 18, 1953 in Walsenburg, Colorado to Lloyd and Josephine (Wilson) Borrego. Larry was a cowboy through and through. He enjoyed braiding nose bands, and making other tack such as bits and spurs. His passion was team roping and training horses. Larry is survived by his wife, Valerie of 47 years; daughter Kimi (Gene); son JW (Jessi); grandchildren, Oakley, Aspen, Phoenix, and Jayli; siblings, George, Dave, Bert, Andrew, Carol, Charlotte, and Deanna; sister-in-laws, Anita, Sandy (Ken), and Yvonne; and numerous nieces and nephews and his amazing horse Buck. Larry was employed and retired from the United States Department of Agriculture. A special thanks goes out to Abode Hospice (Laura, Melissa, Echo, and Naomi) for the outstanding care they gave him. Per his request, the family will have a private service.
