HOSPICE VOLUNTEER STUNNED BY FAMILY’S GENEROUS GIFT DEAR ABBY: For a few years, I volunteered to tend to an elderly woman through a hospice organization. My role was to visit with her while her son ran errands or enjoyed an evening of entertainment.

Dear Editor, In 2017, Trinidad received a visit from the State Outdoor Recreation Industry Office. I presented the Director with an overview of our outdoor recreation potential, including identifying gravel cycling.
DEAR ABBY: I had a friend I adored. She was someone I had known for over 20 years, but I had to say goodbye to her.
DEAR ABBY: My sister and I have always been close. She’s married to a man I have always thought is domineering and arrogant. I also suspect that he’s emotionally abusive from things she has confided over the years. These include days of the silent treatment, refusing to celebrate her birthday because he doesn’t believe in it and discouraging her from taking a job she was interested in. He refuses to go to counseling and says whatever problems there are between them are her fault. I hold my tongue and try to tolerate him because she has chosen to stay with him.
DEAR ABBY: I met a man, “Gabe,” 30 years ago. We had a very good time together. We dated some and even traveled occasionally. I liked him a lot but, when we met, I was divorced and looking for marriage. He was not. I moved for my job, and met and married someone else. Gabe did call to keep in touch for several years, but the calls stopped. I never forgot him.
Trinidad Middle School held a “Leadership Day” last Thursday, offering the community and parents the opportunity to see student leadership in action throughout an event-filled day. TMS students shared their leadership talents in various ways — ranging from door-greeters, to tour guides, to talent show participants to students teaching other students as their regular (adult) teachers looked on and participated in the lessons.
Dear Editor, I send you this letter today to follow up on my claim that we have a culture of removing individuals who conflict with those in City Hall. Please note that I have no personal animus toward the Trinidad City Council or city staff.
Dear Editor, The Trinidad City Council Meeting on April 19, opened with five pleas to reinstate Sky Tallman as city planner, and a condemnation from myself referring to council as “stupid.” The meeting ended with the mayor and especially the city attorney deflecting the complaints from themselves and onto city staff. I would like to make a few points a little clearer.
DEAR ABBY: I am a 58-year-old, never-married woman with a 22-year bluecollar career. I own a home and will retire with benefits many people dream of.
