DEAR ABBY: My sister and I have always been close. She’s married to a man I have always thought is domineering and arrogant. I also suspect that he’s emotionally abusive from things she has confided over the years. These include days of the silent treatment, refusing to celebrate her birthday because he doesn’t believe in it and discouraging her from taking a job she was interested in. He refuses to go to counseling and says whatever problems there are between them are her fault. I hold my tongue and try to tolerate him because she has chosen to stay with him.

COUPLE RECONNECTS BUT CAN’T SEEM TO REKINDLE THE PAST THEY HAD

DEAR ABBY: I met a man, “Gabe,” 30 years ago. We had a very good time together. We dated some and even traveled occasionally. I liked him a lot but, when we met, I was divorced and looking for marriage. He was not. I moved for my job, and met and married someone else. Gabe did call to keep in touch for several years, but the calls stopped. I never forgot him.

Trinidad middle-schoolers showcase leadership abilities during ‘Leadership Day’

Trinidad Middle School held a “Leadership Day” last Thursday, offering the community and parents the opportunity to see student leadership in action throughout an event-filled day. TMS students shared their leadership talents in various ways — ranging from door-greeters, to tour guides, to talent show participants to students teaching other students as their regular (adult) teachers looked on and participated in the lessons.
