Primero track athletes set new personal records at Ray Headley Invitational

Primero High saw its five track athletes set new personal bests at an early-April meet in Otero County during the Ray Headley Invitational Track meet. The meet, held in Swink Friday, April 7, saw appearances from John Mall High School, Pueblo County, Sanford, Hanover, Holly, Aguilar, Rocky Ford, Las Animas, South Baca and Fowler, among other schools.

Miners baseball sees double-double in wins and losses last weekend

Big bats and aggressive base running helped the young Trinidad Miners on the diamond last weekend as they beat Custer County (3-4) (2-2) at Central Park in Trinidad Friday, April 7, sweeping a Class 2AA Southern Peaks League double header by scores of 16-3 and 24-14. But on Saturday, April 8, Trinidad High School lost to No. 9 ranked Del Norte (6-0)(6-0) on the road 9-5 and 15-12.

Colorado universities could soon admit more out-of-state students if they boost in-state aid

In exchange for offering financial aid to more in-state students, Colorado universities soon could be allowed to admit more students from out of state who pay almost twice as much in tuition. Universities such as the University of Colorado Boulder have been allowed to admit two out-of-state students for every student they admit who participates in the Colorado Scholars Program.

Primero’s Harris starts track season off with 9th place finish, athletes beat personal bests

Primero High School Track & Field started off their season last weekend with senior Hailey Harris placing ninth in shot-put, and multiple runners improving their personal bests. The Bulldog track team attended its first meet of the season in Pueblo Saturday, March 18, at the Larry Pickering Invitational — taking four athletes up to the Steel City for an early-spring competition.
