Three local high school sports teams advanced to postseason play last week: the Hoehne Lady Farmers volleyball team, and the Kim/Branson Bearcats and Raton Tigers football squads. All needed victories in order to advance from regional to state playoffs.
In August of 2021 the Hoehne Farmer cross country girls and boys team started a new sports program with head coach Melissa Salbato setting the foundation. The team has a state qualifier in Ellegra Gutierrez, who qualified for state with a time of 23:13.

The Brason/Kim Bearcats ended the 2022 Colorado Class 1A 6-Man football season at home last Saturday with a loss to No. 5 ranked Cheyenne Wells (6-3) 41-6.
The playoffs are here in Colorado and the Class 2AA Regionals are set for this weekend. The Lady Farmers will head out to Holyoke High School to play in the Region 8 playoff where HHS will face the Holyoke Dragons (13-10) and the Addenbrooke Classical Academy (16-7) out of Lakewood, Colorado on Saturday Nov.
