Weekend sports preview: Lady Miners back on the winning track

Trinidad Lady Miners Last week the Lady Miners got back on the winning track in high school volleyball action with a big road win over Dolores Huerta Prep in three sets 25-18, 25-13 and 2520. Then they came home last Saturday and showed heart and a willingness to overcome adversity in an exciting and long five set win over South Park 25-18, 25-18, 21-25, 18-25 and 15-4 “These are two really big wins for these girls and our volleyball program,” Ashleigh Akcerman said.

Local cornhole league, downtown establishment help raise money for dance school girls heading to NYC

Just over a year ago Fisher’s Peak Corn Hole League President Frank Cordova had an idea to start a full-time league here in Trinidad. So, he went to the owner of Flo Jo’s BBQ and Hall and he asked Florence Behavin if the players could use her hall in the back of the restaurant. She said “yes,” and Cordova and his league has been moving full steam ahead ever since.
