Huerfano County gets $29,985 for film shoot

On Wednesday, Oct. 30, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade announced recipients of the Colorado Tourism Office’s marketing grants, which included the City of Trinidad and Huerfano County.

According to the Colorado OEDIT, the grants were designed to elevate the state’s profile as a “top-tier” travel destination, and the CTO awarded 16 of them to various cities, counties, and organizations throughout the state, totaling $592,525, with 22 counties impacted through the 16 grand awards.

The award of $40,000 for the City of Trinidad was to help fund a tourism website redesign to include updated content, improved website navigation, and what the CTO referred to as “expanded visitor experiences.”

Huerfano County’s $29,985, The CTO stated, was to fund a “comprehensive” film shoot for three days in order to highlight tourist points of interest, including the Scenic Highway of Legends and Cuchara Mountain Park. “The video and audio assets will be utilized for future marketing campaigns,” the CTO said.

“The CTO is excited to announce the recipients of this year’s Tourism Marketing Grants, empowering a diverse range of organizations across the state to elevate Colorado’s profile as a top-tier travel destination,” said CTO director Timothy Wolfe. “By increasing our matching support, we’re helping our partners create more impactful and sustainable marketing campaigns that benefit not only our tourism economy but also the well-being of our residents and natural resources.”

The CTO expects the funded projects to begin as soon as Jan. 2025 and extend until December of that same year.
