EVELYN DIONISIO

Evelyn May (Frenchmore) Dionisio passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 4, 2023. Evelyn was born on July 6, 1929, in Trinidad, CO to Teresa (Veltri) and Carl Frenchmore. She attended school in the South Garcia, Hoehne, and Trinidad school districts, and graduated from Trinidad High School.

Evelyn was married to Joseph S. Dionisio at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Trinidad, CO on December 4, 1948.

Evelyn worked for the County Agent’s office and the Trinidad Nursing Home. After her children started school, Evelyn ran a successful construction and real estate company. She and her husband Joe also owned The Park Café.

Evelyn loved to cook, crochet, sew, and was an avid reader. She loved to sing to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed family get-togethers with her immediate and extended family. She was a great storyteller and loved to tell stories about growing up on the farm with her parents and sisters, her grandfather Filippo Veltri, her aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as her many pets. She had an encyclopedic memory for family history, a great sense of humor, and a saying or expression for every situation.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Joseph (Joe); her daughter Jeannie Grable, her parents Teresa and Carl Frenchmore; her in-laws Robert V and Minnie Dionisio; her sisters Mary Ann and Jennette; brothers-in-law Roland Yarberry and Ronald White; sisters and brothers-law, Anna and Sam Vinci, Victor and Katherine Dionisio, Jack and Lucille Dionisio, Charles Cortese; her cousin Anthony “Judy” Paradisa; grandson-in-law Larry Mortensen, and special family friends Reno and Nettie Sweeney.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Mary Jane Cortese, Gretchen Paradisa, children Karen Dionisio, Joseph Dionisio, James Dionisio, Marilyn Dionisio- Farley (Mike), Edward (Gerrilyn) Dionisio, son-in-law Dennis Grable, special nieces Nancy (Jim) Toupal, Mary Nell (Dennis) Lochard, her nieces and nephews in Colorado, Oklahoma, and elsewhere, and cousins. Her grandchildren Terri Mortensen, Carl Dionisio, Natalie Snyder, Brittany Dionisio, JaNell Dionisio, Joe Dionisio, Michael (Morgan) Dionisio, Chuck Dionisio, Zack (Morgan) Farley, Carly Dionisio, Sidney Dionisio, Maggie Farley, and Christian Dionisio, greatgrandchildren Evan Bayes, Cristian “Jake” Mortensen, Anthony “Jack” Mortensen, Candelora Dionisio, Mark Dionisio, Makenna Dionisio, Maddox Dionisio, and great-great grandson Cristian Dean Mortensen.

Services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholics in Trinidad CO, on Monday, April 24th, 2023, with a rosary at noon and a mass of remembrance at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow.

Graveside Service at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Evelyn’s memory to a charity of your choice.

The family has entrusted Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home with the arrangements.
