Between 35 and 40 volunteers came down to the Trinidad Riverwalk Saturday, Oct. 9 for the annual Purgatoire River clean up. A large amount of trash and waste (top) was found and cleaned out under a railroad bridge next to Phil Long Toyota during the event.

Sheree Zamparripa (above left), a resident of Trinidad, is seen working here on the trash detail. In addition to cleaning up the river walk, those present heard from various speakers including local business owner Howard Lackey (above at far right) who is an avid fisherman and advocate for keeping the Purgatoire River clean and healthy for aquatic life and people.
