Trinidad School District No. 1 decided at a special board of education meeting Friday, August 27 to not change its instructional plan for all three schools in the district but does plan to decrease the number of students together during lunch hours as hundreds of district students were quarantined after potential exposure during the first week of school.

District staff called the lunch hours the “weak link” in the COVID-19 armor because students need to remove or lower their masks to eat. The district requires masks in classrooms and on district transportation under its 2021-2022 COVID-19 mitigation plan.
