Helen M. Armijo (Moose), Age 82, passed away on Tuesday June 28th surrounded by family. She was born in Trinidad, Colorado on May 7, 1940 to John B. Armijo (Freckles) and Jennie S. Armijo. She was raised in a large loving family with 10 brothers and sisters. She was a strong woman, often stubborn, but she was very protective of her family and friends. If she loved you, she took care of you.
She attended Trinidad High School and graduated in 1959. She was in charge of the dormitories at Trinidad State College for 12 years and she also attended college to become a nurse gaining her LPN in Trinidad and her BSN in La Junta. She was a nurse for over 30 years and cared for many patients while she worked in Colorado Springs and Trinidad as well as working as a traveling nurse.
She was outgoing and participated in swimming in high school as well as being the cheerleader sponsor for Trinidad High School. She was also on a softball team that won many championships. She loved crossword puzzles and to crochet, was an avid reader and loved visits with family and friends. Her dog, Jiminy was a constant companion. She loved with all her heart, was confident in her opinions and was loved back by so many.
She is survived by her son, James Shelden and his wife Laura and her siblings John B Armijo Jr, Vera Fuhs, Daryl Armijo, John (Jerry) Armijo, Evelyn Terrill, and Richard Padilla.
She was pre deceased by her sisters Yvonne Armijo, Monica Kosovich and Patricia Roberson as well as her brother Louis Armijo.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, July 7th from 3pm to 7pm at Comi Funeral Home at 1804 East Main Street in Trinidad, Colorado.
The Rosary will be held on July 8th at 12:30pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 135 Church Street in Trinidad Colorado. This will be followed by the Funeral Mass at 1pm with internment immediately following at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery at 2366 Main Street in Trinidad, Colorado.
Helen had a full life and tackled it head on with her “Even if I am Wrong I am Right!” attitude and her wonderful laugh and her great big heart. She will be greatly missed.
