Our beautiful and beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Mary Mestas, went to rest in Jesusʼ arms on Saturday, November 19, 2022. Mary was 86 years old, born on September 8, 1936, the daughter of Ana Duran and Epimenio Aguilar. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Myra Jean, her mother Ana, four sisters, and six brothers.
Mary was born and raised in Trinidad, and on May 26, 1956 she married Ben Mestas. In addition to caring for her mother, Mary raised 4 children. She enjoyed listening to music, reading, watching baseball, loved spending time with her grandchildren, and spent countless hours studying her Bible and telling people about Jesus. Mary was a Seventh Day Adventist and loved attending weekly Sabbath services at church, leaving behind many dear friends there who she loved like family.
Mary is survived by her husband Ben, son Carl (Gwen) Mestas, daughters Bonnie (Jim) Felthager, Peach (Chris) Vigil, granddaughters Brenda (Jeff Snyder), MyraJean, Brittany, Carley and Cydney; grandson Blaide, two greatgrandsons, Christopher and Alexzander, and her brother John Navarette. Grandchildren by marriage, Jazelle (Brett Armijo) and James Felthager, Ashley and Dylan (Dezirae) Vigil, numerous greatgrandchildren by marriage, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service in Maryʼs honor will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Trinidad Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1605 Aiello Street, with Pastor Ted Williams and Elder Brian Swann officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for dessert and refreshments with the family immediately following the service.
