A Denver man, who reportedly claims he is an affiliated gang member, has been arrested in Trinidad after a report of “several juvenile parties assaulting an older man” led to a case of alleged criminal impersonation.

Michael A. Sanchez (23) of Denver, according to an affidavit for his arrest, was charged with criminal impersonation (a class six felony) Sunday, Nov. 7 after reportedly giving Trinidad Police Department officers his brother’s name when they stopped Sanchez at Safeway in Trinidad. Officers were responding to an assault call in the 400 block of W. Main Street when they made contact with Sanchez in connection with the incident, according to court record.
