Robert Levi Nunez (42) was charged with introducing contraband in the second degree into the Las Animas County Detention Center Friday, Oct. 8. He was originally contacted for failure to appear and failure to comply warrants after he was found sleeping on the ground. When entering the detention center, he reportedly told officers he did not understand the contraband warning when they advised him of it, before they found suspected drugs in a sock of his. He was given a $3,000 cash or surety bond. It was unclear when he is next due in court.
