The Colorado Court of Appeals recently walked back a ruling made in the Third Judicial District after they found Chief Judge Leslie J. Gerbracht exceeded her authority by appointing a magistrate to act as a district court judge.

According to reporting by Colorado Politics, in July of this year Gerbracht appointed Magistrate Dawn Mann to be an “acting District Court Judge” in a case to terminate the parental rights of a mother and father. Four days later, Mann issued the termination order.
