A Trinidad man has been arrested for the attempted murder of his girlfriend after an incident in early June.

Michael James Romero (35) was arrested by Trinidad Police Department Monday, August 23 and charged with criminal attempt of first degree murder (a class two felony), possession of a firearm by a previous offender (a class four felony), illegal discharge of a firearm (a class five felony), violation of a protection order (a class one misdemeanor), harassment (a class three misdemeanor) and domestic violence (a special enhancer) after being on the lam for over two months.
