On Oct. 30, El Pomar announced that its trustees approved grants to various organizations throughout southeastern Colorado, which included notable nonprofits and agencies in Trinidad, Walsenburg and La Veta, where they equaled $72,500 of the total $90K.
Notably, Arthur Roy Mitchell Memorial, Inc. received $45K in total, with $5K for general operating support, $10K for restroom renovation, and another $30K for restroom renovation.
Huerfano County Youth Services, in Walsenburg, received $2,500 for general operating support, while the Huerfano and Las Animas Area Council of Governments received $10K for elder center equipment.
$5K for a food insecurity program was approved for Mt. Carmel Wellness & Community Center in Trinidad, while the Panadero Ski Corporation in La Veta garnered $10K for Cuchara Mountain Park ski lift repairs.
