PAMELA FISKMESTAS

A celebration of life will be held for Pamela (Pam) Rae Fisk-Mestas on May 20, 2023, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 4925 Farmingdale Drive, Colorado Springs CO 80917 from 11am-2pm. Pam passed away on December 25, 2022, at home as she battled with Multiple Sclerosis. Pam was born May 22, 1963, at St. Joseph Hospital in Hartford Wisconsin to Donel and Elizabeth Fisk as the sixth of eight children.

Pam met the love of her life and was married in June 1997 to Reuben Mestas in Santa Fe New Mexico and became the stepparent to her son John, and daughter Anne. She had already begun a teaching career in DeKalb County Georgia and carried that passion of teaching middle school science at Carey Middle School (Cheyenne Wyoming), Trinidad Middle School (Trinidad Colorado), Aguliar Public Schools (Aguilar Colorado), PS 1 (Denver Colorado) and South Middle School and Aurora Public Schools (Aurora Colorado) until her MS prevented her from continuing work.

She had always had a passion to travel, so she enjoyed trips with her older grandchildren throughout the Western United States to include such places as Mt. Rushmore, Moab and the Grand Canyon as well as meeting her younger grandchildren for trips to the State Fair, the Denver Aquarium or Rockies baseball games. These times with her grandchildren were some of the most cherished highlights of her life.

She loved to sew and quilt and later compose and dictate short children stories on a speaking device after the nerves of her hands succumbed to the illness.

Pam is survived by her husband Reuben, son John (Lisa) Mestas, daughter Anne (Luke) Aldrich grandchildren Alex (Brandy) Ketschek-Evans, Joseph, Violet, and David Mestas, Logan and Caleigh Aldrich; brothers Dwight (the late Caroline) Fisk, Keith (LeAnne) Fisk, sisters Victoria (William) Schaus, Catherine (the late John) Fiske-Knuth, Sandra (the late Wayne) DeMerchant, Teresa (Steven)Krautkramer, Constance (Charles) Guysick as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
