Sam Garcia went to be with his beautiful wife on their Ranchito in the sky. He left behind four daughters and a son. Sandra Villegas, Terrie Lobato, Joan Sisneros, Lisa Garcia, and Marcos Montoya. He was blessed with 12 grandkids, 18 greatgrandkids, and 2 great-great-grandkids. Heʼs preceded in death by his lovely wife Betty Garcia, Louis Sisneros, Robert Lobato, David Fahey, his parents Simon and Vicenta Garcia, In-Laws Manuel and Flora Sandoval, and numerous family members. He is survived by his sister-in-law Angie Cardenas, brothers Banjo Garcia of Cimarron, NM, Phil and Judith Garcia of Florida, Rod Garcia of Walsenburg, CO, sisters Liz Shull of Trinidad, and Gerry and Bob Lopez of Kansas. He is also survived by his very special niece and nephew Steve and Irene Montez, Daddy and Momma loved you dearly. Sam served Active Duty in the US ARMY and US AIR FORCE, and was a Korean War Veteran. He returned home to Colorado where he married, became a rancher, and cattle driver. He pursued his education at Otero Jr. College, while working for the City and Public School District of La Junta. He also worked in the coal mines of Las Animas County. He later moved his family to Utah, where he attended University of Utah, earning his degrees in Botanical Science and Architecture. Later in life he returned to Trinidad where he worked the local Soup Kitchen for the last 12 years, where he delivered food baskets to the local community. Anyone who knew Sam knew that he was a heck of a man. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Thursday at the Comi Chapel from 3pm-7pm.
Rosary to be held at Comi Funeral Home, Thursday June 9, 2022 at 7:00pm with Virgil Micek officiating.
Funeral to be held at First Christian Church 200 S Walnut St. Trinidad, CO, Friday June 10, 2022 at 11:00 am.
Burial immediately afterwards at San Juan Plaza Cemetery.
