Opposing viewpoints flooded City Hall on Tuesday, Apr. 15, during the Trinidad City Council Meeting’s petitions and communications section over the council’s proposed city ordinance to enact a camping ban, with those in favor, citing economic losses to business and tourism and those who opposed, stating the humanitarian concerns and unforeseen consequences.

City Council faces criticism over transparency, unhoused situation, police training room essay that suggests ‘harmful’ practices

On Apr. 1, during its regular meeting, The Trinidad City Council faced scrutiny as residents took to City Hall to voice concerns over transparency in city projects, the handling of homelessness and a controversial essay displayed in the police training room for the past seven years.

Coalition for unhoused introducing new, experienced members to address homelessness population in Trinidad

During the City of Trinidad’s City Council regular meeting, Det. Sgt Lay, who is also a chair for the Trinidad and Huerfano County Coalition for the Unhoused, introduced Chelsea Meece as the new systems coordinator for the organization along with a new co-responder, Alfia Lane for the Trinidad Police Department, to provide insight on better serving the community and unhoused population within the city.
