At about 4 p.m. Tuesday frigid temperatures caused a water line break at the Toltec building in downtown Trinidad. Building manager Allyson Sheumaker said a valve on a sprinkler line failed and the buildings system automatically notified Trinidad Fire Department. “No major damage,” she said. Water flooded into the buildings basement and threatened The Chronicle-News archived, yet fire personnel quickly pitched in to move the books out of harms way.
